The A-mazeing Little Creatures (icon at right) is also recommended especially for the holiday season. You will enjoy the maze and coloring games along the story. December, still many things to be done......

Dear readers, Dear friends overseas,

  It's already the last month in the year ! The new announcement is: Another application for iPad / iPhone will be released soon ! (icon at left, not linked yet) This ABCD e-BOOK, is the e-Book version of ABC out of WWW ; an alliterative verse in english with illustrations.  Here I am ! The A-mazeing Little Creatures (icon at right) is also recommended especially for the holiday season. You will enjoy the maze and coloring games along the story. Informations are on my blog and the publisher's facebook. Both applications have quite a volume and you'll find it as a good bargain :-)

  A little modification on this site (tabs on upper part) : The page for picture book is divided into two sections according to the media --- PrintedBooks and eBooks . The section for Works is added, which links to my former site. ( I had an intention to transfer those works to my blog "portfolio", but ..... not much time)

  The year 2011 is about to end, but the serious situation in Japan continues; the radioactive contamination which hinders the revival of the land, and the problems of the re-activation of nuke plants etc. What can I do as an individual, for the better society,is the theme for the future.

September, one step forward for the future?

Dear readers, Dear friends overseas,

  39 out of 54 nuke-plants was not working at the end of August, (some for the damages, some for the inspections), and as a result of the efforts of saving energy by enterprises and people in Japan, we survived the hot and humid summer without any power outage. Do we need to reactivate the plants ?..... a little endurance for the better future, why not ? 

 The main news of mine in September is, the release of iPad application ! On 12th, in the App Store. It is a maze book with a story, entitled "Here I am " The A-mazeing Little Creatures". Further informations on my blog and the publisher's facebook.

  Il mio libro illustrato che è stato pubblicato in 2006, è ora trasformato come un e-Book, l'applicazione per iPad. La traduzione del titolo Here I am ! The A-mazing Little Creatures sarabbe Ecco mi qua, Le Piccole Creature "Labirintose". É un libro del labirinto con una storia, e come vedete qui, si puo seguire la strada con la pennarello rossa sulla cassetta trasparente ed anche cancellare i tratti per giocare ripetutamente.
 Allora, l'intenzione del libro è realizzata efficacemente nella forma del e-Book. Inoltre, sulle pagine del labirinto, si puo utilizzare la tavolozza multicolore per tracciare, colorare e dipingere. É certo che voi possiate salvare i vostri disegni originali. La musica è stata composta specialmente per quest'applicazione.
  C'è poco testo quindi non ci sarebbe problema della lingua. È per tutte le generazioni in tutti i paesi !

  Mon livre qui a été publié en 2006 est maintenant transformé comme un e-Book, une application pour iPad. La traduction du titre Here I am ! The A-mazing little Creatures serait Me Voici ! Les petites bêtes en Labyrinthe. C'etait  un livre du labyrinthe avec une histoire et comme vous voyez ici, on pouvait suivre le chemin avec le marqueur rouge sur la caissette transparente et de plus, effacer les lignes pour jouer répétitivement. 
  Alors, l'intention du livre est bien réalisé en forme d' e-Book. En plus, sur les pages du labyrinthe, on peut utiliser la pallete multicolore pour dessiner, colorer, et peindre. Bien sûr vous pouvez enregistrer vos dessins originaux. La musique a été composée spécialement pour cet application. 
  Il y a peu de texte donc la langue ne vous dérangerait pas. C'est pour toutes les générations dans tous les pays !

  My e-Book = an application for iPad,  will be released on 12th September > and now, it is available !
It is based on my picture book published in 2006,    Here I am ! The A-mazing Little Creatures. The book is modified to fit the spec for e-publishing, and I found that the concept of the book is realized perfectly in this way, as if it were meant to be from the beginning. It must be fun for the grown ups as well as for children. (image: the top page)
  The original book is in the transparent plastic case on which the readers can draw lines and also erase them, to play the maze repeatedly. And the spiral-binding is not only necessary to make the book flat but also to express the "long and winding road" of the maze. The form of the book corresponds to the intention, so, in this way the book must be successful except ...... it costed too much ! Besides, it is not suitable to be distributed and to be piled up in the store......
I appreciate that it was accepted in the "OPLA" collection in Italy (Artists' Books for Children).  But, in my opinion, books are to be read "by many people, in many countries, for long time", so it would be better if they are available in "friendly price".
]]>   The book and the iPad, they even look alike, in size and in material of the surface. The major differences are:
1. The app has an back ground music, originally composed by Ryo Nakamura (The Future Ratio).
2. The app has a palette for coloring, instead of white-board marker. It's an advantage of e-Book that you can save your own drawings.
3. The price is fairly low, 3.99 dollars, instead of 4800 yen ! (don't calculate, yen is to high now) .
a part of the profit will be donated to the relief efforts organized for the victims of the earthquake/ tsunami disaster.

 Now, the original book is just expensive and has no charm at all ? ------ I don't think so. Vivid colors of ink and the touch of papers are special, and sometimes "being there as it is" is just important. First of all, I'm not sure that I could make such an effort to complete this book if it were just for an application. Originally, it was one of the challenges to design the form of the books free from the standards, so the work might not have existed if it had not been for this "paper" project. 

  The important thing is; the appropriate contents for the appropriate media ------either in the style of e-books or paper-books.

Unusual Summer

Dear readers, Dear friends overseas,

  4 and a half months have passed since the disaster and there's not a single day without thinking about the victims of tsunami, refugees and the nuclear power plants ------they are not settled yet. We have to be aware of the radioactive contamination of the air, the sea and the land. However, the government is not functioning properly and that makes people very nervous. 

The campaign for "saving energy" is not that bad, especially for the city like Tokyo that had been too bright and eccentric. we are now seeking for a new style for living, safe and sustainable. 

  By the way, I had a trip to France (I hope the nuke-plants there is super-safe) in late May & June, I'd like to thank many people who are still concerned about our country. I will upload soon the photos ( not telling you when ;-).

M9.0 and the AFTERSHOCKS......

Dear readers, Dear friends overseas,

  I (we) thank you for all the concern for Japan, we appreciate your helping hands and warm encouragements. Two weeks have passed since the enormous earthquake and the horrible tsunami that wiped off the North-East coast of Japan.

Many people lost their lives, many are still missing. 
Many family had to leave their homeland and live as refugees.

We feel the aftershocks every day and night,
We are still endangered by the damaged nuclear reactors.

There are people working on the destroyed land
to rescue the possible survivors
to save the weak and injured
to bury the victims being crushed with grief.

Removing the debris to reconstruct the road,
Driving the trucks to deliver the needs.

Then, at the risk of life, there are people working to deactivate the reactors.

The ordinary habitants in Tokyo including me,  the only thing we can do is to support those people and not to cause panic. We need to overcome our fears, we must endure this hardships.

Big cities like Tokyo have been devouring the electricity, depending too much on the nuclear power plant. It's time to say thanks and good-bye to this monster and to consider the new way to live safe and secure.

  In Marzo, quest'anno ...... nonostante le difficolte, la vita continua. Per il momento, sono fortunata di poter godere la gara sportiva ...... Si, la Formula 1 che ha appena cominciato la nuova stagione !

  Uno dei piaceri per produrre i libri è;  intrecciare la mia preferenza segretamente oltre al concetto principale. Cioé, come voi vedete ...... io tengo per la Scuderia Ferrari ! FORZA !

  This March ...... In spite of the difficulties, the life goes on.  So far I am fortunate enough to even enjoy watching sports ...... yes, Formula 1 which has just started the new season !

Hello readers,

  This is a website to introduce KINOTORIKO (Toriko Kino)'s works ; illustrations, picture books and other activities.

  The site is finally renewed, after more than 10 years of using old HTML. I hope the new design would appear clearly on your browser.

  During this decade, the range and the style of my work became wide  and various, from simple illustrations (that clients order me) to installations, web contents & product designs etc. Especially, as my own project of picture book grew, the concept became more important than the style of illustrations, then I've been anxious that my activities might seem scattered and confusing. So, by putting these works properly on this site, I also hope that the context among them  would naturally appears.

  The blogs on the right side: "NEWS" is for announcing updates and notices, "Portfolio" is for showing my works (used or unused for media), sortable by categories of themes and techniques. "Recent Entries" links directly to the latest 3 articles. There are few articles so far but I'll be uploading continuously.

  The tabs on above "PictureBook","Exhibitions","WebContents" etc... are the archives containing the reports on terminated activities and the detailed informations. These pages are still linked to the old site, and I'll be fixing these pages too. I appreciate your frequent visit.
